Sustainability and cost efficiency on the golf course - DropSave in action
Project goal
The use of DropSave on a leading Austrian golf course was to prove that our natural granules improve turf quality and significantly increase the moisture content in the soil - even under extreme weather conditions. The focus was on the quality and durability of the turf to provide greenkeepers and golf course managers with an effective solution for the maintenance of challenging turf areas.

Testing period
August 12 to September 7, 2024, over 10 measurement days
Weather conditions
Five-week heatwave without rain, temperatures constantly above 30 °C
Watering
Artificial irrigation of 3-4 l/m² per day on the fairway and 5-6 l/m² on the green
Experiment setup
Comparison between DropSave-treated test areas and untreated control areas on the green and the fairway.
Dosage
DropSave was used in various quantities and concentrations to determine the ideal dosage.
Measurements and analysis
Over a period of four weeks, the moisture values of the treated and untreated surfaces were recorded and compared on ten test days. The results were documented as average values and show the effect of DropSave in permanently dry and hot conditions.

On the green, the area treated with DropSave had a 22% higher moisture content in the soil compared to the untreated area. During the test phase, drought damage (dry spots) occurred in three places on the untreated control area. This dry damage was completely avoided on the test areas treated with DropSave - a clear sign of the sustainable and even water supply.

The moisture content measured on the fairway was 40% higher in the DropSave-treated areas than in the control areas. This was particularly evident on stony and hard-to-water sections of the course, where DropSave ensured consistently higher soil moisture.

DropSave practice test
This time-lapse video impressively shows the effect of DropSave in practice. On the left-hand side you can see untreated brown soil containing clay, while on the right-hand side the same soil has been enriched with DropSave under the grass roots.
After watering, it is clear how the water on the untreated side seeps into the soil very quickly. In contrast, DropSave on the right-hand side immediately stores the moisture directly at the plant roots and releases it again continuously as required - an efficient water supply for all plant species.
